Golf in Egypt has been a tradition ever since the Gezira Sporting Club and the famous Mena House Golf course near the Giza pyramids first opened in the late 1800’s.
 

By the mid nineteen hundreds, Egypt boasted seven world-class golf courses but with the changing political climate, golf declined and most of these courses disappeared.
 

Fortunately, there has been an enormous bounce-back and the last decade has experienced a tremendous boom once more. Now, there are upwards of 20 top-scale operational golf courses in the major cities and European golf competitions have included Egypt among world-class golf destinations.
